MCH Strategic Data Acquires the QED Education Database

Sweet Springs, Missouri – September 17, 2010 – MCH Strategic Data has acquired key assets of QED from MDR for an undisclosed sum. MDR is a division of Dun & Bradstreet. The transaction was completed on September 16.

As part of the agreement, MCH received the comprehensive QED marketing database of K-12 schools and other educational institutions including school districts, childcare centers, and public libraries. The company also acquired the QED trademark and related intellectual property.

“We are excited by the opportunity to extend our education marketing services with the QED suite of products,” MCH Strategic Data CEO Peter E. Long said. “This firmly establishes MCH as a leading provider of K-12 education marketing data.”
MCH is merging the QED and MCH school and district databases. “Our team is already hard at work,” Long said. “When the integration is complete, we’re confident that MCH will have a superior solution for school marketers.”

The QED database has been owned and updated by MDR since February 2009. The QED dataset for schools features current information about more than 119,000 public and private schools with the names and job roles of more than 4.5 million educators and an email address list of more than 2 million faculty and staff members.

MCH already offers a similar database of 120,000 schools, 4.1 million educators, and 1.6 million email addresses. “We expect the combined databases to represent nearly 5 million educators with nearly 3 million email addresses,” Long said.

MCH will use the QED brand name prominently in its education marketing efforts. “QED stands for Quality Education Data, with a top–notch reputation that was built over more than 20 years,” MCH Strategic Data President John F. Hood said. “We will use the QED brand to represent our entire product line of education marketing databases.”

“We intend to compete aggressively with MDR,” Long said. “It is important for education marketing companies to have a variety of competitors working to satisfy their data needs, and we’re confident that this agreement is a positive step toward that goal.”
